Following some early productions on small labels, Resistance D joined the legendary Harthouse roster in the early '90s and helped define the early sound of trance, becoming one of the emerging style's most celebrated production teams. Comprised of producers Maik Maurice Diehl and Pascal Dardoufas, Resistance D debuted in 1992; the duo's early productions from that year on Cyclotron and Injection were compiled on the Dreams EP. Released by Direct Drive (DDR007), the EP most notably features “Cosmic Love,“ one of the era's most influential early trance productions (also produced by Atom Heart). Following the success of “Cosmic Love,“ Sven Väth signed Resistance D to his Harthouse label and released the duo's Human EP in 1993, most notable for its title track. The bulk of the duo's Harthouse productions are compiled on two similar albums, Ztringz of Life (1994) and The Best of Resistance D (1995), the former released in Germany, the latter in the U.S. In the late '90s, Dardoufas began focusing on his solo career as Pascal ., along with his label, Planet Vision. Nonetheless, the duo released the occasional Resistance D single such as “Feel High“ in 1999. Then, after a few years of inactivity, the duo returned in 2001 with a full-length effort, Modern World of Today; the album compiled previously released late-'90s singles like “Feel High“ and “Impression,“ along with several new productions.
