Heritability is a statistic used in the fields of breeding and genetics that estimates the degree of variation in a phenotypic trait in a population that is due to genetic variation between individuals in that population. Qualitative traits are frequently controlled by one or just a few genes meaning they are simply-inherited traits. A qualitative trait is expressed qualitatively, which means that the phenotype falls into different categories. These categories do not necessarily have a certain order. The pattern of inheritance for a qualitative trait is typically monogenetic, which means that the trait is only influenced by a single gene. Conversely, quantitive traits are traits with phenotypes that can be measured numerically. ... Usually, quantitative traits are polygenic meaning they are controlled by many genes and gene interactions. #Genetics #breeding #qualitativeTraits #quantitativeTrait #genotype #phenotype #inheritance #heritability
