I thought this was interesting - a fellow in Ukraine has a job lot of these so I grabbed two (took just under four weeks to arrive). These are the КМ1810ВМ88 (KM1810VM88) variant in a ceramic case, compared with the КР1810ВМ88 (KR1810VM88) variant in a plastic case. Both top out at 5MHz apparently and there is also a clone of the Intel 8086 called the К1810ВМ86. К1810ВМ88 They appear to use Soviet pitch for pin spacing (as expected) but it was pretty easy to fit into a standard “ pitch socket in my IBM Model 5155 Portable PC. Unfortunately my 5155 is running with only 256KByte of RAM at the moment so it wasn't possible to run CheckIt to put it through its paces. My Model 5160 PC/XT, that has been upgraded to a 640KByte motherboard, has a strange issue where the keyboard stops working after a few minutes ... *sigh*. The ВМ88 shows up as a standard 8088 and seemed to run perfectly fine with the limited tests I ran ... so hot today ... it's around 20:30 at night and still about 30ºC with no breeze. With that in mind, after a few minutes the ВМ88 was at 41ºC, with it's Intel 8087 neighbour running at 57ºC ... even though it technically wasn't doing anything. I had a quick game of the classic Pac-Girl and then Ancient Art of War, both running perfectly. Once I upgrade my 5155's motherboard to 640KByte then I'll try some more aggressive tests. As mentioned in the video ... Graphics Gremlin: And the forked version with HDMI output!
