I used to do benadryl recreationally, and this is my attempt to show how badly it fucked me up in auditory form. It gave me heavy brainfog and memory issues that I'm still suffering from to this day. When I was on it, it put me in a pseudo-dreamlike state where I couldn't differentiate what was happening in reality from what was happening in my head. People online go on and on about the hallucinations from it, and while I did experience those, it wasn't what I felt the most. What I did feel the most was confusion. I wasn't able to focus on anything, or tell exactly what was going on. I was still able to somewhat know that what I was experiencing wasn't real because I couldn't move while I was on it, but it wasn't a constant because eventually I would zone out into nothing and let whatever was going on in my mind play out. I never really had any sort of bad trip when I was on it, but that doesn't mean it didn't make me feel worse. Even when I was taking it I didn't know why because of how terrible it made me feel, and yet I still did it anyways to try to escape the miserable life I put myself into. I guess my main point is this: Don't do it. In the end, it'll just destroy you. Nothing will be gained from it. Nothing will be learnt from it. Nothing will be made better from it. It all just turns into regret and turmoil. Stay safe.
