The Christie Mountain wildfire burning in British Columbia’s Southern Interior has not grown larger than 2,000 hectares in the last 24 hours, according to officials with the B.C. Wildfire Service. Friday’s weather forecast, however, includes winds out of the south that are expected to be between 20 to 40 kilometres per hour, with gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour. If the winds expand the fire, an evacuation alert in effect for nearly 3,700 properties in the southeast section of Penticton could become an order.
