ENG: Vigilius Eriksen. Portrait Painter to the Russian Empress

This year the Hermitage marks the 300-th anniversary of the Dutch painter Vigilius Eriksen. During the reign of Catherine the Great, he became her court painter creating some of the iconic images of the Russian Empress. In this tour we are happy to welcome you to a special exhibition showing all his most famous paintings, where you will learn about Eriksen's remarkable career and see some new surprising discoveries about his work in St Petersburg.
