Elephants are very important in the Indian state of Kerala. Elephants have been integrated into this culture for fetching logs, lifting them for festivals, elephant safaris, elephant rides, elephant tusks and so on. This year's Oscar-winning documentary Elephant Whisperer was also shot in Kerala. Tourists who come here buy at least one image of an elephant. Attacks by wild elephants are also high in this country. Elephant kennels have been built in Wayanad, Palakkad and Ernakulam for the elephants who have gone out of the forest. There are talented artists who carve large and small elephant figures on wood. The price of elephants made of wood is determined by its size and the price of the wood used.
