It was officially signed at 5:45am and came into force at 11:00am, Paris time on 11 November 1918 marking a victory for the Allies. After the war, there was a deep shame that so many soldiers died on the final day of the war, especially in the hours after the treaty had been signed but had not yet taken effect. -
