On Friday, the leader sat down with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for a bilateral summit. Our Oh Soo-young, traveling with the President, tells us what came out of those talks. : Paris 1. Yes, President Yoon met with President Emmanuel Macaron for a breakfast summit on Friday morning at the Elysee Palace. No details yet on what came out of that summit, but we do know that they would have broadly discussed economic cooperation, especially in science and technology, and other ways to collaborate on global agendas, according to a senior official. It was only about five months ago that the two leaders held a summit at the Elysee Palace,.. and agree to deepen cooperation in space, aerospace, and future industries, as well as work more closely to address North Korea's nuclear threat and seek peace and reconstruction in Ukraine. So this time, considering the various geopolitical shifts we've seen since June, the two leaders will discuss the Israel-Hamas conflict, and North Korea's weapons cooperation with Russia, particularly as South Korea begins its two year term as anon-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, of which France is a permanent member. 2. Sure, so this is President Yoon's second time visiting Paris this year, to promote Busan's 2030 World Expo bid. Busan, Riyadh and Rome are in the running to hold the World Expo that will run from May to October in 2030, with representatives of 182 BIE member states casting a secret vote, in just four days' time. On Thursday when he arrived in Paris, the President attended a banquet for Paris-based diplomats and BIE delegates. He said the envisioned Busan Expo in 2030 would promote understanding and exchanges of different cultures, technologies and ideas, as an Expo of 'Solidarity.' On Friday evening, he will be holding another dinner with BIE representatives. He will introduce Busan's vision for a sustainable future through solidarity, in the fields of climate change and digital innovation today, according to his Senior Press Secretary Kim Eun-hye. She said Yoon will highlight the spirit and vision of the Busan Expo, which aims to reduce the gap between countries and create a foundation for sustainable prosperity for humanity as a platform for harmony and solidarity for future generations. “President Yoon Seok Yeol will emphasize that the Republic of Korea, which overcame the ruins of war 70 years ago and achieved miraculous development, is the optimal partner to solve the challenges facing humanity as a responsible member of the international community based on its past experience.“ As you said, the final vote for the 2030 World Expo host city is only four days away, and the stakes are higher than ever.
