150 years ago. 2019 is the International Year of the Periodic Table The United Nations announced 2019 as an International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements to highlight its first publication in 1869. The periodic table was discovered, structured and shaped by the Russian scientist, Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev. He was born February 8, 1834, in Tobolsk, Russia, being the 17th child in the family of Ivan Pavlovich and Maria Dmitrievna Mendeleev. Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev received his international recognition for the contribution into the field of chemistry. He was awarded by the Scientific societies of Oxford and Cambridge Universities as well as by the Royal Society of London. Mendeleev geniusly built the system when the Periodic Table having only 63 discovered elements could predict, trace and map out the search of the new undiscovered elements. His invention turned into some sort of scientific fishing net playing a very important role not only for chemistry but for many other sciences as well.
