ACTIVE VOLCANO SHIVELUCH, KAMCHATKA The northernmost active volcano in Kamchatka. The base diameter is 45-50 km, the total area is at least 1300 square kilometres. It consists of the Old Shiveluch stratovolcano (an old lacune - caldera 9 km in diameter) and the active crater Young Shiveluch, which produces emissions of hot lava and gas and ash clouds. The last major eruption occurred on April 11, 2023 at local time. The volcano ejected a cloud of volcanic gas and ash that reached a height of 20 kilometers and spread over an area of 108,000 km².
