Thanks: South Dade Kia Location: 2025 Kia Sportage Starting at $ Highs: Generous standard equipment, spacious, great warranty coverage. Lows: Love-it-or-hate-it design, turtle-like acceleration, not as engaging to drive as we’d like. Verdict: Slow but spacious, the Kia Sportage offers a tempting array of standard features at a price that undercuts most of its competition—and also those extroverted looks, if that's your thing. Overview Compact-crossover SUVs are popular for their combination of versatility and space along with a modicum of style, but performance is not a priority. So, it’s not surprising to find that the Kia Sportage offers a generous list of standard equipment and an enticing array of options along with versatility and space at an affordable starting price. The two-row Sportage’s reasonable tariff comes with a caveat: its 187-hp four-cylinder engine doesn’t supply nearly the thrust found in the pricier Sportage Hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV), which we review separately. Front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive is available on all trims save the SX and standard on upper trim levels. The Sportage’s prices are more affordable compared to those of competitors such as the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V. Redesigned for 2023, the Sportage wears the latest in Kia automotive couture, sharing much of its underpinnings with its corporate cousin, the Hyundai Tucson, including its vehicle architecture, powertrains, and overall size. However, the Sportage seems more fashion-forward compared to its more traditionally styled relative. What's New for 2025? Little changes on Kia’s most popular vehicle. Then again, why mess with a good thing? Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2025 Kia Sportage starts at $ and goes up to $ depending on the trim and options. LX: $28,565 EX: $30,665 X-Line: $33,465 SX: $34,165 SX-Prestige: $36,165 X-Pro: $37,665 X-Pro Prestige: $39,465 The mid-range EX appears to offer the most value here, adding desirable features such as the larger infotainment screen, wireless smartphone charging, and heated front seats. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The Sportage's default powertrain is a 187-hp four-cylinder that mates to an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive. A hybrid is also offered, but we review that model separately. Rugged-looking trims such as the X-Line give the compact ute an off-road vibe in terms of looks, but the X-Pro trim actually has some equipment to help tackle the rough stuff. It rides on black 17-inch rims and all-terrain tires and features a selection of drive modes. Read more 📌 Instagram ▶ 📌 Tiktok ▶ @cartvpress
