Brin Addison performs his original composition “Euforia Del Loco“ (Madman's Euphoria) on a restored 1940's Hubert Heerbeck 15-String Kontraguitar, also known as a Schrammel Guitar or Harp Guitar. The piece was written for and on this instrument however, the tuning of the Sub-Bass strings, which are traditionally tuned chromatically, was adapted for this performance and retuned (low to high): D, F, F#, G, G#, A, B, C, D. The top 6 strings of the fretted fingerboard maintain their standard guitar tuning. In writing this piece the aim was to fully utilise the available Sub-Bass notes as an integral part of the composition as opposed to them simply being used as a sparse accompaniment, which is often the case in Harp Guitar music.
