Benjamin Britten: Deus in adjutorium meum intende (Psalm 70). Composed circa 1945 for mixed chorus, SATB, a cappella. Britten Singers; Richard Hickox, conductor. DEUS IN ADJUTORIUM MEUM INTENDE, DOMINE AD ADJUVANDUM ME FESTINA. Confundantur et revereantur qui quaerunt animam meam. Avertantur retrorsum, et erubescant, Qui volunt mihi mala. Avertantur statim, erubescentes, Qui dicunt mihi: Euge. Amen. O GOD COME TO MY ASSISTANCE, O LORD MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME. Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek my soul. Let them be turned backward, and put to confusion that wish me evil. Let them be turned at once, blushing for shame, who say to me: Well done.
