Groupe cinéma du club Antonin Artaud On January 10th 1962, in the boisterous context of anti-psychiatry movements, the Club Antonin Artaud was born in Brussels, at the instigation of former mental patients and some of their therapists. In this place of avant-garde, designated center of social and cultural rehabilitation, Boris Lehman creates a group of filmmaking, the first of its kind. In eighteen years, about one hundred films will have been made, individually and collectively: documentaries, fictions and experimental films. They are not therapeutic films, they are rather art brut experiences. Shot with direct sound, Villofolie presents six people giving a monologue in a destroyed and dehumanized city: Brussels. The film dissects itself to reflect on mental illness and the inability to communicate. The group of people portrayed share feelings of abnormality, anxiety and loneliness.
