On April 12th, something exploded on the far side of the sun. The blast hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. Two days later, (April 14) there was a large solar explosion too. Coronagraph images from NASA's STEREO A probe confirm that a CME emerged from the blast site. Yesterday, the orbiting Solar and Heliospheric Observatory also captured a new eruption at the Sun's eastern limb. A CME can send 20 billion tons of dangerously charged material into space. Hopefully, Earth was not in the line
