BS EN ISO 1461:2009 is an international standard adopted and published by the British Standards Institution (BSI), specifying requirements and test methods for hot dip galvanized coatings, applicable to the anti-corrosion treatment of fabricated iron and steel products, such as structural steel, pipelines, and railings. It includes minimum requirements for coatings, such as thickness, appearance, and adhesion, as well as specific methods for testing and evaluating hot dip galvanized coatings, including measurement of coating thickness, visual inspection, and adhesion tests. Additionally, it sets out requirements for pre-treatment of workpieces before hot dip galvanizing and post-treatment (such as painting), and includes a series of terms and definitions used within the standard.
