Anatreptiko Deltio - Greece: Racial Hatred against Shiite Migrants performing Tatbir (Ashura Feast)

In the News released by Anatreptiko Deltio on the 5th of September, a video clip showed a group of Shia migrants performing Tatbir (self flagellation) during the Ashura Feast somewhere in Greece. No usage of zanjeer was made, so it was a rather mild session. However, so dark, so ignorant and so uneducated the TV presenters were that they did not give any of the above details; they simply did not know them. They only described the topic as a ’barbaric custom’ and the migrants as ’uncivilized’ Muslims. In fact, those idiotic TV presenters showed to their audience a topic about which they did not know anything, only to generate anti-Muslim hatred on the basis of misperceived cultural differences! They had no idea about the Ashura feast or the practice of Tatbir (self flagellation), and while talking, they did not use these terms at all. They deliberately showed the video to generate racial hatred and anti-migrant rage to their audience.
