Titles read: “NORTHWARD BOUND - along Australia's East Coast“. Australia. At Sydney we see various shots of passengers getting on an aeroplane bound for New Guinea. Good shot of the plane coming towards us and taking off. Several aerial shots from the plane of the scenery below, including Archer-Point Lighthouse and part of the Great Barrier Reef. A man on the plane has a shave; the pilot speaks into a radio mouthpiece. We fly over the coast of Papua and see Port Moresby. Nice shots of clouds over mountains and over the island of New Britain see a volcanic smoking lake. Tea is served to passengers from a thermos flask. Near Rabaul we see a huge volcano, 'Vulcan', that erupted the previous year and fly over the smoking crater. A ship called the 'Duraur' is stuck fast in the hardened lava. Another volcano, Matupi is briefly seen. Brief shots of the aeroplane arriving at Rabaul, capital of New Guinea. Sacks (of mail?) are unloaded from the plane and local men help wheel the plane backwards
