Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Ali Abunimah, co-founder of The Electronic Intifada, about the extraordinary wave of repression sweeping over the West, and Germany in particular. In July of this year, German legal authorities issued an order to Abunimah banning him from giving a speech via Zoom to the Palestine Conference in Exile, organized by supporters of Palestinian rights in Germany in late July. The order threatened Abunimah with fines and up to one year in prison for participating in the conference. Abunimah defied the order of the German “regime“, stating that Germany “never purged itself of deep and pervasive racism.“ Lascaris and Abunimah also discussed increasingly aggressive censorship by social media companies, as well as the growing political instability in West Asia.
