Trini Lopez is an American singer, song-writer and actor. Lopez formed his first band in Wichita Falls, at the age of 15, at the recommendation of Buddy Holly. 'If I Had a Hammer' was written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays. It was written in 1949 in support of the progressive movement, and was first recorded by the Weavers. Reached No.3 in 1963 when recorded by Trini Lopez.
