If you're under control and not being chased by a desperate defender, by all means incorporate the one-foot, two-hand rim hanging slam until your heart’s content. It's been a tried and true signature finish for the likes of Charles Barkley and Draymond Green. However, if one or more of the following conditions are met, please consider a safer dunking alternative: 1. If you're sprinting toward the hoop straight on (as opposed to at an angle). 2. If you're running faster than typical as a means of eluding a sprinting defender. 3. If a defender's on your hip or close to it. 4. If you plant far enough away from the rim to necessitate a speedy horizontal jump rather than a primarily vertical takeoff. 5. If you're a low-rising middle school or high school student considering utilizing a chair as a means of boosting yourself up for a dunk in gym class.
