A Day in the Life of a Deck Cadet ( The Aussie Seafarer) PLUS bonus footage of dolphins jumping in the bow wave at the end. In this Video I give you a basic introduction to life at sea through my eyes as a deck cadet on a ship. I show you an average day as a cadet from the time I wake up in the morning to the time I finish work as the sun sets. I show you the kind of work we do at sea on deck as well as from the navigation bridge. To become a navigating officer on a ship, you must first sail for 18 months as a Deck Cadet or for 9 months as an Engine Cadet if you want to become a Marine Engineer. As I have finished my time as a Cadet & I am waiting for a promotion to 3rd officer, this is my last opportunity to showcase life as a cadet. Whilst the exact work hours and jobs of a cadet will vary from ship to ship, I want to share my general perspective of life as a cadet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
