AstroBin's Image of the Day: «Cosmic Butterfly, The Great Eta Carinae Nebula (SHO)» by Matt Hughes Date: 2024, January 31 Image Source Link: Description: “Had an unexpected few clear nights and wanted to capture the Great Nebula in Carina, NGC 3372. Its a huge area of HA with strong emissions in SII and OIII. I tried my best to highlight the three emission lines and how they overlapped and integrated each other shown with the different colour tones. This image is cropped as the more I stared at it the more I could see a butterfly... bringing out my pareidolia here. I made a combined Luminance image integrated with all three master SHO frames. Stretched each filter with GHS, noise reduction, Imagecombination then added the sharpened luminance image.
