Foiano di Val Fortone Foiano di Val Fortore is a municipality in the Province of Benevento in the Italian region of Campania, located about 80 km northeast of Naples and about 30 km northeast of Benevento. In the sixteenth century in the district of San Giovanni a Mazzocca (about 5 km from Foiano), on the top of Mount San Marco (1,007 m) there was an ancient Benedictine Monastery, built in the center of a rich and ancient estate, next to a church perhaps of the seventh century, dedicated to Blessed Giovanni Eremita on the ruins of a temple to Pollux.
