Forty nations contributing to the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) have issued a strong condemnation of recent attacks targeting peacekeepers in southern Lebanon. In a joint statement, nations including Indonesia, Italy, India, France, and China expressed their support for UNIFIL’s mission to stabilize the region and demanded an immediate halt to the violence. “Such actions must stop immediately and be properly investigated,“ the statement read. The force, which monitors the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah since the 2006 war, has faced increased danger amid Israel’s ground operations against Hezbollah.
