Vladimir Sofronitsky (1901-1961) plays a composition of one of his classmates at the Conservatory, Boris Goltz (1913-1942). From 24 Preludes, Opus 2: No. 4 in E minor (Andante con anima). Recorded in 1938. Goltz was a very talented composer, studying at the Leningrad Conservatory in the 1930s, but he died very young during the siege of Leningrad in 1942. The complete Preludes were recorded by Sergei Podobedov and can be heard here: They follow the same harmonic pattern/model as Chopin's and Kabalevsky's 24 Preludes and I think they are most interesting and beautiful!
