The base of a 10oz cup is used to trace circles on Tyvek 2-3/8 inch (6cm) in diameter. Scissors are used to cut out Tyvek circles. Two Tyvek circles will be used for each needle insertion pad. Step 2: Creating Dermis Layer (1:27) Ease Release 200 release agent is applied into all muffin cups. Dragon Skin series silicone rubbers feature a 1A:1B mix ratio and are easy to use. Dragon Skin 10 Part A is dispensed into a 2oz measuring cup. Dragon Skin 10 Part B is dispensed into a 2oz measuring cup. Dragon Skin 10 Part B is transferred into a 10oz mixing cup. A small amount of Silc-Pig Fleshtone is added into Dragon Skin 10 Part B. Material is stirred until color is uniform. Dragon Skin 10 Part A is added to the mixture. Dragon Skin 10 Parts A & B are mixed thoroughly until a uniform color is attained. Thi-Vex Silicone Thickener is used to thicken Dragon Skin 10 for vertical surface application. Three drops of Thi-Vex are added to Dragon Skin 10 mixture. A small amount is poured into each muffin cup until 1/8 inch () thickness is attained. The goal is to uniformly coat the inside of each muffin cup with silicone. Material is brushed evenly around edges and walls of muffin cups. Silicone is allowed to partially cure for 50 minutes at room temperature (73°F / 23°C) to become “tacky,“ sticky to the touch but not wet. Step 3: Creating First Fat Layer (3:05) Dragon Skin 10 Part A is dispensed into a 4oz measuring cup. Dragon Skin 10 Part B is dispensed into a 4oz measuring cup. Slacker is dispensed into two 4oz measuring cups. Dragon Skin 10 Part B is transferred into a large mixing cup. Silc-Pig Yellow is added to Dragon Skin 10 Part B. Material is stirred until color is uniform. Both parts of Slacker are mixed into Dragon Skin 10 Part B with Silc-Pig Yellow. Dragon Skin 10 Part A is added. Material is mixed thoroughly until all color streaks are eliminated. Equal amounts are poured into all muffin cups until 1/2 inch () thickness is attained. Silicone is allowed to partially cure for 50 minutes at room temperature until tacky. A circle of Tyvek is placed onto tacky silicone surface. Step 4: Creating Second Fat Layer (4:39) Steps for creating the first fat layer are repeated. Parts A, B, and Slacker are mixed until all color streaks are eliminated. Equal amounts are poured into all muffin cups until 1/2 inch () thickness is attained. Tyvek circles are encapsulated. Silicone is allowed to partially cure for 50 minutes at room temperature until tacky. Step 5: Creating Muscle Layer (5:14) A circle of Tyvek is placed onto silicone surface. Dragon Skin 10 Part A is dispensed into a 2oz measuring cup. Dragon Skin 10 Part B is dispensed into a 2oz measuring cup and then transferred into a 10oz mixing cup. A small amount of Silc-Pig Blood is added. Material is mixed thoroughly until a uniform color is attained. Dragon Skin 10 Part A is added and material is stirred until a uniform color is attained. Small amounts are poured into each muffin cup and material is allowed to level off at 3/8 inch (1cm) thickness. All layers are left to cure fully for 8 hours at room temperature. Step 6: Demolding Insertion Pads (6:16) Step 7: Finishing Insertion Pad (6:36) Step 8: Using Needle Insertion Pad (7:00) Insertion pad provides accurate haptic feedback for realistic need insertion training. Skin layer also provides feedback for improper insertion technique. Insertion pad holds fluids without leaking. Insertion pad is very durable and long-lasting.
