The most important thing of all is to give thanks to the One who sees us in our worst moments and is always there with us through the good times too. Don't forget that there is always someone or something greater than ourselves. There are things we are grateful for, but there are also things we can never control no matter how hard we might try. Life is full of ups and downs, and it's only through faith in God that you can truly be thankful.
