The 120,000 ethnic Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh will leave for Armenia as they do not want to live as part of Azerbaijan, Reuters reported on September 24. Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said the Karabakh Armenians, who feared ethnic cleansing, were likely to leave the region and Armenia was ready to take them in. Meanwhile, ethnic Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh have begun handing over weapons after they were forced to surrender this week, the Russian Defence Ministry said. Nagorno-Karabakh armed groups surrendered over 800 weapons and 22,000 ammunition units to Russian peacekeepers.
