The Class EF81 is multi-voltage AC/DC electric locomotive for the freight trains and passenger trains by Japan Freight Railway. They were built between 1968 and 1992, and used by JNR(Japanese national railways). EF81 pulls many famous limited express sleeping car trains “Hokutosei“, “Cassiopeia“, “Twilight Express“, “Nihonkai“, so on. I observed this locomotive at 2014 open engine depot of Higashi-Niigata.
