The orchestration of the Suite in D is for three trumpets, timpani, two oboes, two violin parts and a viola and basso continuo, It is almost obvious that this AIR by J. S Bach would become loved and famous because Bach shows himself to be a thoroughbred Romantic composer. The melody in the strings is lofty and very melodic, while the bass notes are played pizzicato (plucked). The AIR is the only part of the suite where only the strings and basso continuo play.
