I’ve done a few other pairs from that era, but I needed a softer tone for some of my planned ensembles. Enter a lovely robins egg blue leather that matches a few of my fabrics. The only problem was the design- too many choices! Shoes in the era of the Flapper were reaching dramatic new heights and styles. The practical button boot was on its way out to be replaced by peep toes, sandals, and pumps. While it took until the end of the decade for the shape of the common shoe to really change, the complex designs and heel shapes really shook things up. It's also the era when shoemaking techniques of stitching really gave way to the mass produced methods of modern day. Not every shoe was made cheaply, but many more were than ever before. Designer names became all the rage for both style and quality. Join this
