Dutch guitarist and composer Bram Stadhouders plays ‘Orbit Improvisation’. Recorded in het Duvelhok in Tilburg 2022. Guitarist Bram Stadhouders plays in this session in the city where he was born, Tilburg. Recorded in het Duvelhok he improvises on themes from his album 'Orbit'. Stadhouders has been expanding the possibilities of his instrument for years, including for 'Orbit'. With his 'surround guitar' he lets the sound come from all sides during live concerts. 'Orbit' is an eclectic mix of beats á la Aphex Twin, ambient synthesizers, field-recording samples, guitar layers and dreamy melodies. Bram has been developing more and more as a composer lately. Commissioned by the North Sea Jazz Festival, he wrote ‘Henosis’ for the Nederlands Kamerkoor. For November Music 2021 composed a work for the Flemish ensemble Baroque Orchestration X. He remains an improviser but adds more and more structure. This is the result of a composition study at the conservatory in The Hague. “My improvisations were intuitive, but I learned to take more distance, to observe what I'm doing while I'm playing.” Crew: Editors: Sakti Khedoe, Melchior Huurdeman, Aad van Nieuwkerk, Kaya Belfor Camera & lighting: Marijn Zurburg, Wim Adam, Ramon de Boer Sound: Marc Broer, Phillip ten Brink Producer: Vivian Vrolijk Director/Editing Reinier Bruijne This video was recorded in het Duvelhok Tilburg 2022 for VPRO Vrije Geluiden: music program made by the Dutch public broadcast organization VPRO full session: twitter, instagram @vrijegeluiden. #bramstadhouders #orbit #guitar #hetduvelhok #improvisation
