Created by I Nyoman Suarsa, this dance depicts a group of women preparing for battle. I'm not sure why the choreographer decided to use women for the role of soldiers. Perhaps this dance represents more broadly the day-to-day battles of a Balinese woman as she manages her home and associated religious rituals, raises children, feeds her husband, goes to work, deals with the slings and arrows of village , etc, etc. I highly doubt that was the choreographer's intention but a girl can dream.
