The original was Inspired by Russian literary works and legend. Then Mussorgsky composed a “musical picture“ of St. John’s Eve on Bald Mountain on the theme of a Witches’ Sabbath occurring at Bald Mountain on St. John’s Eve, which he completed on that very night, 23 June 1867. Later on it was used on the movie “Fantasia“(1940) by Walt Disney. In the dark of the night at ’s Eve, evil spirits gather on the top of the bald mountain. After dancing they are defetated by the bells of the church and the light of the day. This arragement focuses at the evil things that happen in the night - there aren’t any evil spirits though- before the morning comes and through the bells of the church the darkness spreads away. 🎶 Orchestral Song - Composition details 🎶 Music: The music of this version is considered a derivative work. This version has a lot of instruments added , lot of melodies composed and lyrics created. Concerning music, the music is arranged and in some parts and organs, but new music themes were created and the orchestration differs a lot, thus it is more appropriate to be considered for those parts not an arragement but a derivative work. Lyrics: The choir and lyrics of this version are considered an original original lyrics of a Russian folklore poem, were a conversation between demons and witches, dancing under a spell at witches’ Sabbath at ’s Eve. The lyrics created in this version - however- talk about the destruction that happens due to the evil forces of the night and the request of God’s people for the dawn to come and free them from the evil force. In contrast with the lyrics of the poem, which were in Russian, the lyrics in this arragement are in Latin (and a few words in Koine Greek).
