The mounted police patrol forested city parks with rough terrain, ravines and creeks, where a regular car or even a person on foot would be stuck. They’re also on duty during big public events like football games and open-air concerts. A Moscow mounted police unit shift lasts 8 hours, and officers patrol in pairs.
