TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM (The Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey and The National Academic Network and Information Centre) has announced the release of Pardus 23.0, a major new update of the project's Debian-based Linux distribution with a choice of Xfce and GNOME desktops. Pardus 23, code-named 'Ay Yıldız' or 'Crescent and Star', which is one of Turkey's national symbols, aims to offer the most up-to-date technology, ease of use with new applications, a long-term support program and a stable Linux kernel 6.1 version. The release offers various innovations, such as Pardus GNOME Welcome, Xfce Fine Settings and Pardus Updater. In Pardus 23, Xfce is used as the default desktop environment. Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems; while being visually attractive and user-friendly, it requires low system resources and makes the system fast.
