Hundreds of demonstrators joined a memorial rally in Berlin to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Sivas massacre, when 35 civilians lost their lives in a radical Islamist arson attack in the Madimak Hotel in Sivas, Türkiye. The massacre was committed on July 2 1993 by a mob of Sunni Muslims who were reportedly protesting the presence of the Turkish translator of ‘Satanic Verses,’ by the controversial novelist Salman Rushdie, in Sivas.
