He studied composition privately with Karel Boleslav Jirák. From 1990 he worked as a proffesor of composition on Prague music Academy (AMU). In his ouevre, he treats in his own way with techniques of „Musica nova“. Beginning in the late 1970s his attention became focused on Christian subjects, and he composed many biblically based chamber works and choral-orchestral pieces. The external impulse for the writing of symphonical fantasy Hommage à Hieronymus Bosch was request by the conductor, Václav Neumann.
