Flippin, an emerging African American guitarist and composer (b. 1983), composed A Soldier’s Sonata to depict “the psyche of a soldier in conflict” in a post 9/11 world. Jack Davisson is the first prize winner of the 2021 Guitar Foundation of America International Youth Competition, Senior Division.
