One Shot, One Mic, One Song is owned and operated by Top Hill Recording Podcast Zeno plays an original he wrote called “Steamboat“. The Rules: One Shot - This has two meanings - One: enjoy a shot of a favorite beverage, and two: perform an original song from start to finish in one take. One Mic - Everything is recorded through one microphone. The performance may include as many performers, amps, and instruments as desired, but only one microphone. One Song - perform one original song With a guitar howling like it was recorded in a runaway cement mixer while keeping up with the frantic beat of an old suitcase drum and a rusty tambourine, Zeno Jones takes the old delta blues and lights them on fire with Kentucky moonshine. Based out of Louisville, Kentucky, Jones belts out raw vocals with a level of energy which can only be explained as a genuine attempt to give himself religion. Audiences are struck by the ferocity, originality and fresh take on the prewar blues, roots and gospel material Zeno takes inspiration and pays homage to. He is a two-time Semifinalist of the International Blues Challenge, a weeklong event featuring 200 regionally qualified blues acts from around the world. Since 2022 he has played for audiences around Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee from venues as intimate as a private house party to crowds at the Brown County Playhouse (IN), or from the standing room only bars of Beale Street (TN) to the overflowing street crowds the Garvin Gate Blues Festival (KY). Jones’ fervor will have you either stomping your foot through the floor or calling the police.
