Upgrade your mixes with a set of VARI Studio 500 monitors from Guitar Center today: The Harbinger VARI SM505 and VARI SM508 studio monitors are innovative reference tools that provide home and small studios with not just one, but a trio of critical-listening environments. Whether you go for the SM505 with 5“ woofer, or the SM508 with 8“ driver, the built-in DSP of the Harbinger VARI 500 series provides reference modes for large studio speakers (for rich bass and big sound), near field monitors (for precise and accurate mix details) and small format (for translating mixes to consumer playback devices, such as mobile phones and laptops). All you need to do to switch between reference environments is push a dedicated mode button on the front panel of the monitor. “We asked ourselves, ‘How can Harbinger help music producers be more successful in making mixes that translate well out in the world,’” said Harbinger Product Manager Patrick O’Connor. “So, we developed DSP to offer three different voicings that mirror the experience in large studios that use multiple monitors to check mixes. The real beauty is how the three voicings of the Harbinger VARI 500 series work together to complement each other. “For example, when your audition your mix in each listening mode, it will immediately be obvious if something doesn’t hold up on the Small speaker mode, because you may be relying too much on a bass element that needs to be better balanced with other frequencies in the mix. With VARI 500 series monitors, we feel you will make fewer mistakes, craft better mixes and deliver mixes that translate to all the playback systems people use to listen to music.” The VARI 500 series innovations don’t start and stop with DSP. The SM505 and SM508 include waveguide tweeter technology for superior stereo imaging and accurate mid- and high-frequency reproduction. In addition, the monitors use a front bass port, instead of a rear port that can fire into your back walls of your room and skew how you hear bass frequencies. Furthermore, the VARI 500 series includes back-panel adjustments for high- and low-frequency shelving ( 2dB, -2bB and flat) to tweak monitor response to your specific listening environment. Bluetooth audio is onboard for streaming music for precise A/B referencing of your mix to your favorite tracks and hit songs. Or, when your session is done, you can relax by using the VARI 500 series to play movie, gaming or “music for enjoyment” audio.
