👀 Read the full blog post: 💧 Get underwater sound effects: Colin Hart, recordist of the Submerged library from Pro Sound Effects, offers tips and tricks on what to do (and what not to do) when recording submersion sound effects with a hydrophone. One of the most common problems with using a hydrophone is figuring out how to keep it in place. Unless you have a really fancy neutrally buoyant hydrophone (rare!), your microphone will either sink or float (most pro models sink). That means that I’ll have to hold it in place, or rig some sort of fancy stand to keep it there. I’ve tried mic stands in water, which can work, but my favorite solution is the good ole standby noodle trick.
