As promised, here is a newly commissioned animation we have been working on to the opening track of alterum. The song ‘A’ phiuthrag ’sa phiuthar’ (O sister, beloved sister) tells the powerful traditional story of two sisters - one of whom is stolen away by the ‘sìthichean’ or fairy-people. Her sister searches in vain for her. This moving animation was made by two talented artists, Eleonore Dambre and Dima Nowarah in collaboration with Julie. Please check out their work at: Julie learned from the singing of Calum Johnston (Calum Aonghais Chaluim) from Barra. Lyrics selected from Calum’s version as documented in Hebridean Folksongs II, tunes transcribed from recordings and annotated by Francis Collinson, edited and translated by John Lorne Campbell. (Oxford 1977). Listen to the album alterum, was released throughout the world on the 27 October 2017. ► Website: ► Facebook: ► Twitter: ► Instagram:
