A jury concluded, in a Warrington court, Tuesday, that the police “caused or contributed“ to the fateful 1989 Hillsborough disaster. The jury stated that the 96 Liverpool fans, who were crushed in a crowd at Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, were “unlawfully killed.“ Many of the family and friends of the victims waited outside court for the verdict that was 27 years in the making.
