The trip to the unknown tribe Bauzi to West Papua in the year 2023. Getting there wasn't easy. It was an expedition with porters, and the final stretch involved navigating a wooden canoe and trekking through part of the jungle. Thanks to a local guide who knew the native language, we were able to visit the tribe and spend several days with them, participating in daily activities such as harvesting starch from sago palms, fishing in the creek using poisoned vines. Furthermore, we searched for the eggs of the prehistoric bird “tako“ and set traps for the cassowary, a jungle bird whose feathers are used for making headdresses. Additionally, the tribespeople utilize bark from a tree related to the rubber tree, using it for clothing, tools, and material for filtering starch from sago palms. The tribe also sustains itself through hunting crocodiles and fish in the nearby river.
