On The Scene: Russian state TV broadcast live footage showing Russia's fleets in various locations during annual Navy Day parades on Sunday (July 28), in contrast to last year, when most ships attended the main celebration in St. Petersburg. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, naval parades were held in the waters off the bases of the Northern, Baltic, Pacific fleets, Caspian flotilla, as well as in the Syrian port of Tartus, a Russian navy base in the Mediterranean Sea. The ministry anticipated the participation of over 100 military vehicles and 15,000 servicemen in the celebration, but did not disclose further details.
