Black Mesa is known for its notorious safety environment for its staff and equipment alike. Since most resources were allocated towards testing portal technology, courtesy to Aperture’s competitive nature in cutting government funding, the rest of the sectors in the facility were severely overwhelmed negatively. Dr Bubby was leading the Robotics Department and knew full well how limited they were in terms of achieving any significant results. The equipment was just too dated and he knew they had to walk the extra mile to get anywhere significant. But it looked like this new invention might be it: a robot of the future.
