THROWBACK: whistleblower reveals how CIA plants FAKE NEWS in major media “In my war, the Angola war that I helped to manage, one third of my staff was propaganda…I had propagandists all over the world, principally in London, Kinshasa and Zambia,” John Stockwell, one of the most prolific whistleblowers in CIA history, said in a 1983 video. “We would take stories which we would write and put them in the Zambia Times, and then pull them out and send them to a journalist on our payroll in Europe,” Stockwell explained, noting that major news agencies like Reuters and AFP would then pick them up and go along with the narrative being spun by the agency. Recalling how his team would pump “dozens” of false stories about atrocities by Cuban forces, Stockwell emphasized that in reality, “we didn’t know of one single atrocity committed by the Cubans.
